Birgit Galjee is Commercial Assistant Internal Services at VLIEG Mortgages in Alkmaar. Originally from Amstelveen, she now lives in Obdam. Through a recruiter she ended up at VLIEG, after already working in a similar position at another organization. Since November 2021 she is happy to use her knowledge and experience for VLIEG.
Birgit has worked in finance for 37 years and has been in her current position for 8 years. Her interest in mortgages began at Bijzonder Beheer, where she worked on repairing and reducing mortgage arrears. She later made the switch to the front end of the mortgage process: guiding clients from application to passing at the notary. Outside of work, Birgit enjoys hiking, visiting cities, traveling and spending time with her children and grandson Fos.
What does Birgit mean to VLIEG?
Birgit is an important link within the inside sales department of VLIEG Mortgages. She accompanies customers through the entire mortgage process, from application to passing at the notary. She helps customers collect all the necessary documents and carefully checks that everything is complete and correct.
In addition, Birgit monitors deadlines, requests appraisals and bank guarantees, and maintains contact with clients, lenders, appraisers and notaries. Her work is varied and requires overview, accuracy and good communication. Birgit’s goal is clear: to make the entire mortgage process as smooth and worry-free as possible for the client.

Birgit is known for her diligence, integrity and commitment. She immerses herself in every mortgage file and carefully checks the documents supplied. This way she makes sure that documents are approved by the lender as often as possible in one go and clients do not have to resubmit anything unnecessarily.

On the shop floor, Birgit also gets a lot of energy from the good atmosphere within the Mortgage Department. The team is always there for each other and together they have a lot of knowledge. Outside of work Birgit enjoys the little things in life, her children, her grandson and beautiful trips.
