How do you recognize a broker from VLIEG?
Until 2001, the title of real estate broker was a protected title; only after thorough study and training could a person be sworn in by the District Court after passing a professional test before the Chamber of Commerce.
Nowadays, anyone can call themselves a real estate agent and it is not always visible whether or not such a person has studied. The Dutch Association of Realtors (NVM) still swears in its members ! All VLIEG Makelaars are knowledgeable and qualified.
Both the membership requirements and the Code of Honor guarantee the basic quality of every NVM member. Every new NVM member takes an oath, which involves conforming to the NVM's standards and values (business ethics).
