With more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Edwin Thomas is a familiar face within the financial services industry. He was born and raised in Bergen (NH), where he still lives. Since 2018 he has been fulfilling with pleasure and dedication the role of Business Unit Manager Insurance at VLIEG Advies Groep in Alkmaar.
His professional journey began long ago, but the common thread has always remained the same: helping people identify and manage financial risks. Based on that conviction, Edwin has held managerial positions in the insurance industry for many years. At VLIEG, he found the perfect place to combine his knowledge and passion with personal leadership and team development.
In addition to his work, Edwin is heavily involved in coaching, personal growth and mentoring teams. He believes that strong performance comes from a safe working environment, trust and attention to people. He applies this vision to the workplace on a daily basis.

As an MT member, Edwin is involved in helping shape the mission and strategy of VLIEG Advies Groep’s three disciplines: brokerage, mortgages and insurance. Within VLIEG Advies Groep, Edwin is responsible for managing the entire insurance department. As a member of the management team, he contributes to the strategic direction of the organization. His range of tasks is broad: from operational management and quality assurance to customer relations and the development of new services.
His strength lies in bringing structure, optimizing processes and building a future-proof organization. As a coaching leader, Edwin knows how to empower employees and combine customer-oriented work with result orientation. He is approachable, reliable and clear in his communication.
