The story behind Robin
Robin Carlier enjoys working as a commercial assistant at VLIEG Makelaars in Hoofddorp and Amstelveen. Born and raised in our capital she knows the city like no other. Her passion for cooking, going out, traveling, the sun and her family provide a nice balance next to work.
Her interest in real estate brokerage began with watching programs on home remodeling, selling and styling. She also enjoyed reading about real estate and investments, and regularly spent time on Funda. During her previous job as a CDD analyst, she occasionally got to deal with real estate files, which excited her every time.
One day she scrolled on LinkedIn, onto the Academy of Real Estate’s page. She clicked through a bit and ended up with a recruiter. To her surprise, he contacted her the very next day. A few phone calls later, she heard about a position at VLIEG. Robin decided to apply and with success. She has since become an indispensable force within the team.
What does Robin mean to VLIEG?
As a commercial assistant, Robin is responsible for a wide range of activities. Her duties include scheduling appointments such as viewings, architectural examinations, and meetings with notaries and appraisers. She also takes care of administrative matters concerning the purchase and sale of homes and provides support during purchase and sales interviews.
In addition, Robin plays an important role in the commercial process. She actively thinks along with customers who are considering selling their home or are looking for a new home in Hoofddorp and Amstelveen. Thereby she points out to them the advantages of the mortgage department and other services of VLIEG.
Her background as a researcher and analyst still comes in handy. Although she now works more in a dynamic environment, her eye for detail and thoroughness remains a valuable addition to the team. She is currently taking basic training as a real estate expert through the Academy of Real Estate and is still unsure between a future as an appraiser or real estate agent. A role in which she can combine her analytical and commercial skills seems to her the best.
For what qualities is Robin known?
Robin is known as thorough, inquisitive and friendly. She has strong perseverance and remains calm under pressure. Colleagues appreciate her calm, uncluttered approach … something very welcome in the hectic real estate business.
She regularly receives compliments on her listening skills and the pleasant way she speaks to clients. Robin knows how to put others at ease and creates a nice atmosphere both in the office and in client meetings.
What makes Robin happy?
Robin becomes happy from warm contacts, happy clients and a good atmosphere in the workplace. She feels comfortable when she has gained enough experience to work independently and finds satisfaction in contributing to successful transactions.
Outside of work, she enjoys the sun, whether on the balcony, in the park or on a boat ride. She can also intensely enjoy traveling and vacations with her family.
What is Robin's greatest success story?
Robin is still at the beginning of her career within brokerage, but looks back on previous experiences with pride. During her time in Israel, she worked as a researcher at a think tank on international relations between China and Israel, and later as a teacher of Dutch for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This even brought her into the home of the future ambassador of the Netherlands.
Another special moment in her career was completing her master’s degree in Sociology. While a mother of two young children and pregnant with her third, she managed to successfully complete her studies. An achievement she still looks back on with pride.
The move to take her career in a completely new direction – away from research work and computers, toward a profession in which she works more with people – feels like the right choice. She looks forward to the future within VLIEG and the opportunities the profession offers her.
