Eeuwigelaan 54, Bergen (nh)
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
As an estate agent, you learn that you can change a lot about a property, except the location. And the location of Eeuwigelaan 54 is among the absolute best within the Heerlijkheid Bergen NH, and perhaps even of all of (North) Holland.
A long, posh driveway leads to the existing house. This ensures plenty of privacy. Almost seventy years have been lovingly lived in this ultimate place. And now it's time to make your living dreams come true.
The plot can be called special even for the prestigious Eeuwigelaan. With a plot width of no less than 52 metres and a depth of 105 metres (i.e. approx. 5,500 m2), this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to make your ultimate living dream come true. Connoisseurs know that the even numbers on Eeuwigelaan are conveniently located, with the back garden directly bordering the beautiful Bergerbos forest. Through the gate at the back of the garden, we enter the opulence and tranquillity of the forest. After a panoramic walk of a good half-hour, we are in Bergen aan Zee. The walking pleasure of the polder landscape near the Wiertdijkje can be reached within minutes; the dog will never be bored. A few cycling minutes from the yard we reach the energetic and cosy village centre, with cosy terraces and excellent restaurants. A bit like Laren or Blaricum, but much nicer and near the coast.
And then we go back to where you will spend most of your time: in your home in your own unique yard. We can imagine that a new lease of life in this place is desirable. The architects are lining up to think with you!
The building area (where you are allowed to put the house on the plot) is ideally situated on this amazing plot of over half an acre of private land. According to current rules and regulations, a palace of up to 2,200 m³ is a possibility. Perhaps a swimming pool is a wish you have always wanted to see fulfilled. Horse lover? Plenty of space! At the moment, the plot has a green and leafy infill, flowing nicely into nature. Of course, this is your own infill, which you as the owner will soon be able to let your imagination run wild on.
Eeuwigelaan in Bergen (NH) is a historic avenue that was laid out around the middle of the seventeenth century. Construction began in 1643 under the direction of Anthonius van Zurck, who was also known for his particular interest in plantings and experimented with avenue planting in the dunes. The avenue was part of the Dutch-classical layout of the country estate 't Oude Hof, and served as an important connecting road between Bergen and the later Bergen aan Zee. In the 19th century, the 't Oude Hof estate came into the hands of the noble Van Reenen family, which played a major role in the development of Bergen and the management of the estate. Jan Jacobus Henricus van Reenen bought it in 1851, after which it remained in the family.
The legend of Eeuwigelaan: According to popular lore, the name ‘Eeuwigelaan’ is said to have originated from an utterance by a noble lady or her daughter. The story goes roughly as follows: A noble family lived on the 't Oude Hof estate in Bergen. One day, the owner's daughter walked along the long avenue with her father. She complained that the avenue was ‘so long that it took forever to walk along it.’ As a result of this comment, the avenue was allegedly named ‘Eternal Avenue’. If it is the anecdote of the noble daughter who is said to have said that the avenue was ‘so long that it did take an eternity’, then this legend - if true at all - would most likely refer to a member of the Studler van Surck family (17th century) or the Van Reenen family (19th century).
Noblesse oblige - a certain status is undeniably attached to living at 54 Eeuwigelaan. Anyone who settles in such a special location, with such prestige, realises that this also brings obligations: noblesse oblige.
