Starting out as an inside sales support member, he has developed into a primarily outside sales representative, often combining both roles. So a true all-rounder. He fulfills this role in close cooperation with Gerard, the office manager and also his tutor. His work mainly involves supervising viewings and serving as the first point of contact, with a lot of telephone contact being essential.
Large expat community
At age 31, after two inspiring conversations with Job, Jim chose VLIEG Realtors. Although living in Amsterdam, he now also has a fondness for Amstelveen, mainly because of the large expat community there. Jim’s excellent command of the English language, which sets him apart from many other brokers, is a valuable asset in this community.
Good English communication is very important in this region. There is also an efficient collaboration with two regular mortgage consultants, leading to a streamlined service for clients who need both mortgage and purchase counseling.
In his personal life, Jim was an avid field hockey player, but is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury. He is known to be athletic and is the youngest employee in the office. Jim lives (for now) in Amsterdam-Zuid with his girlfriend.

Jim Huisman usually starts his workday at the office, with no outside appointments. One of his first tasks is getting rid of emails, followed by scheduling viewings for clients. These viewings are for both real estate sales and purchases.

The balance between a business and informal approach really appeals to him, where he particularly values the personal aspect in his work. He loves watching people show their emotions, and often shares the client’s enthusiasm, both when selling and buying real estate. Exceeding expectations is something Jim particularly enjoys and continually focuses on in his work.
What is your greatest success story?
Jim Huisman: “I have several success stories, but one really stands out. We had one less colleague for a while due to downtime, which was a challenging period. Helping expats was especially intensive.
One particular story that sticks with me is of a client from India who wanted to buy a house. The excellent cooperation with Guido for mortgage advice and VLIEG’s all-in service, including insurance, enabled us to achieve something special. At first we were stuck with the budget; Amstelveen was too expensive, so we diverted to Almere, where we normally visit very little. This showed that we really think with our customers.
In the end, the client was extremely happy with the purchase and was still able to buy a house in a beautiful location. This success story stands as a highlight with me, where I felt how we really made a difference for our client.”
