Guido: “One of my most memorable success stories at VLIEG involved a woman who was in the middle of a divorce and was a mother of two children. She was receiving WIA benefits, which complicated the situation. Unlike a WIA IVA benefit, which is considered steady income, a regular WIA benefit is not considered such because of the possibility of retesting. She faced the challenge of taking over a €90,000 mortgage, which would result in monthly fees of only €150.

Despite the fact that WIA benefits are not normally considered fixed income, I was determined to go out of my way to help her. The question on my mind was: what would this woman have to do if she couldn’t buy? Renting was an option, but not ideal. After much effort and consultation with the bank, questioning their policies and restrictions, I finally managed to get the financing. This success story is symbolic of the core of my work: not only finding solutions within established frameworks, but also challenging conventions to achieve the best results for my clients.”
